What is crypto?

Digital value you can send to anyone, without asking a bank to move it for you.

Cryptocurrency is digital money that lives on a public network instead of inside one company's database. Bitcoin is the first widely used example. Dogecoin is another. Both let people send value peer to peer.

The point is not a new app logo. The point is that you can hold an asset yourself, send it globally, and verify the transfer on a public ledger. You do not need a branch, a cutoff time, or permission from a clerk.

That power comes with responsibility. If you hold the keys, you are the bank. Lose the keys and the coins are gone. Give the keys away and someone else owns the coins. Education starts there.

Nothing on this site is a recommendation to buy or sell. Learn the mechanics first. Then decide, slowly, whether you want to participate.
